The New York Magic W-League Team's Exciting Victory

2-1 over NJ Wildcats

New York Magic W-League team enjoyed their first victory of the season over the New Jersey Wildcats on Sunday, June 29, 2008. The Magic overall record 1-5-3.

Veteran Magic forward, Noelle Meeke ( Ballymena, No. Ireland), again impressed the fans in the 30th minute of the game by striking the ball beautifully into the Wildcats net from a corner kick.  Throughout the game the Magic continuously attacked the Wildcats goal.

Nine minutes after the first Magic goal, Gemma Davison (London, England) from Arsenal Ladies FC (who was recently called up by the England U-23 National team to play in the Nordic Cup in July) took on Wildcats defenders with her excellent speed dribble to score the Magic’s second goal of the game.

The Wildcats fought back during the second half of the game but the Magic defense held on for the final score, a 2-1 win for New York Magic. (See: game stats (click here).  This game result was especially "key" for the Magic since the first meeting between the two teams in New Jersey resulted in a Magic loss (1-5).

New York Magic will face another New Jersey team, Jersey Sky Blue, on Sunday, July 6 at Iona College , New Rochelle, NY in search of back-to-back victories!
